Walking in Winter

I set out on this day to take a walk. What happens as I take each step is something I don’t anticipate. My breathe becomes visible in the lingering cold, like the fog on a mirror. I can actually see my breath. It reminds me that, although I don’t see my breath every moment of the day, it is real and vital. It is the vehicle on which my life force travels. I usually look for signs of life when I head out on a hike. Today, I discovered my own.
