Dear Lovers of Words and Wisdom,
I decided to compile my first ever book list for this past year. These are books that I read for various reasons throughout 2019. Some were gifted to me, others simply found their way into my hands at the library, literally falling off the shelf, while others were so compelling that I bought them myself. Each book touches me in some way. I learn something new from every experience, and books are just as valuable as my encounters with life. In the pages of a book, I meet another soul, I hear another perspective, and I sift for the golden nuggets. There is always something to take with me on the journey.
Our Bookshelf Magic
Interestingly, during the summer, my daughter invited me to read Marie Kondo’s book on the magic art of clearing your space. Each day, my daughter read to me while I drove on errands, and we began applying the methods in our own way. Ultimately, we tidied up our bookshelves. We gifted books and gave others to organizations in need. Though we might’ve kept them, we decided to make room for new books that we were looking forward to reading. We gave away hundreds of books. In turn, so many precious new books have traveled into our lives. We are both so thankful for the written word. And we are both in agreement that we love to cuddle up with a physical book in our hands. Some take us on magical adventures, while others inform. Still there are some books that soothe the soul and simply bring us joy.
Here are a few of the ones I read in 2019!
Child of the Dawn by Guatama Chopra
Out of the Maze by Spencer Johnson
Feel Free to Prosper by Marilyn Jenett
Wake Up to the Joy of You by Agapi Stassinopoulos
The Book Your Were Born to Write by Kelly Notaras
The Alchemist by Paulo Cuelho
The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo
Proof of Heaven by Eben Alexander
Magical Journey: Apprenticeship in Contentment by Katrina Kenison
