Dearest Sweet Soul,
You’ve been on my mind and in my heart. Things have shifted, More of us are staying home now. It means a lot of things are different, and everyone will experience adjustments.
Since you are Beautiful + Soulful + Creative, I know you are not only used to making time for yourself, but you require it! At the same time, you are there for the ones you love, and you willingly give of yourself to support them in any way you can, especially during times like this. I’ve had my human moments, especially when I forget to take care of myself first…
from my walk this week on my beautiful backyard path…
It’s really important to practice self-care, and I’m doing the best I can, too… sipping herbal tea, drinking immunity-boosting juices and smoothies, reading books, and coming to my yoga mat. I’m still going out for my walks in nature and soaking in the sunshine. I take my daughter out for a walk with me whenever she’s willing, and then I go out a second time by myself.
Here are some other things I’m doing to take care of me and my family at the same time…
- making healthy meals (I love to cook, so this is fun, and I’m inviting everyone to join me in cutting vegetables or mixing things together, giving us some time together… and if they don’t want to be there, I’m not forcing… I still love that they are enjoying my gift of home-cooked meals.
- keeping our routines as much as possible each day brings changes, so we are being mindful of keeping a positive mindset… my daughter thrives in orderliness, so she is making her bed and taking her shower early, my son is working out and going for runs, and I am having dinner ready when my husband comes home from work, so we can sit together as a family.)
- asking for help (this has been a big one! I am a ‘do it all’ kind of person, so I had to really decide to do this. I asked my family to take care of certain things during this time, like washing their own dishes, doing laundry, and making calls to other family to check in.)
Why I am not practicing Social Distancing…
I know you agree that we all need human interaction, connection, and heart-to-heart communication. We thrive when we are seen, heard, and loved. It’s a matter of semantics, but ‘social’ distancing seems to be the opposite of what the world needs now. In times like these, people come together, and connection is at the heart of all the good things we see. While I would love giving hugs, business as usual, I know…
What we need to do is practice physical distancing
Though I am doing everything to keep my physical distance, I am most certainly connecting with others, being social, in so many different ways. I’m using WhatsApp, Marco Polo, and other means of communicating with family and friends.
The experts say mail is very low risk, so I’m sending cards and Love Letters to my mother-in-law and a brother-in-law, who is in nursing care, to brighten their days. Both are alone and can’t have visitors. And I’m writing some thank-you notes to let people know I appreciate them.
Besides sending them some love, I’m Raising My Own Love Vibe! + Boosting my well-being and brain function
Research shows that gratitude makes you happier and therefore healthier AND handwriting letters ‘offers cognitive, creative, and social benefits.’
If you want to write and need some inspiration, I have made my Love Letters book available in instant digital download format…
“There’s nothing more important than our connection to one another. This sweet little book shows you exactly how to honor that priority.”

I hope this letter finds you well and, in the coming days, I hope you find inspiration to stay home, take care of yourself, and do things that fill your heart with peace and keep your mind focused on the highest and best for us all.
Above all, I send you Love
