Can You See the Beauty of the Setting Sun?

“A Sunset is an Invitation to Trust in New Beginnings.”

Rosa Maria Szynski

About a year ago, my son posted a sticky note on the board by my back door. It remained there all year with a message from author Ralph Waldo Emerson which read…

“Beware what you set your heart upon, for it shall surely be yours.”

As I say good-bye to this year, I will reflect on the blessings that came from the challenges… the beauty that grew from seeds I long forgot I planted. Sometimes we just forget what we wish for, what we set our hearts upon. We don’t always remember how powerful our prayers can be. Afterall, our words are always designing our lives. Even more than that, our thoughts are creating our moment-by-moment experiences.

As I begin this new year, I’m vowing to be even more intentional. I will make it a mission to circle back to that present-moment awareness and remember that every thought and every word is an invocation.

As the sun sets, we trust that night will become morning. We just don’t know what that new day will look like exactly, but we trust it will unfold. In that same way, when we set our hearts upon some new dream, vision, or endeavor, we can learn to trust that it will surely come, even if we don’t exactly know the details.

I am in awe of the beauty of my life, and I trust in its magnificent unfolding.

In your favorite journal, write the answers to these magical questions. “How do I feel about this year ending or an ending that I am currently experiencing? What happened that, at first, was a challenge but later turned into a blessing?” Then check in with yourself. Can you see how any of the challenges or blessings were an answer to a prayer or wish from your heart? Can you reflect back on the year and bless it without resistence? I hope this is the beginning of a Magical New Year for you! I’m so glad you’re here.

Wishing you Peace, Love, and Endless Blessings,

Rosa Maria
