Unexpected Delight

We had our first real snow this week in our town. I went out for a little walk before dinner while it was raining. In a matter of minutes, the raindrops transformed into giant flakes of soft snow clusters. I remembered how much my daughter wanted to play in the snow, so I came back to the house and invited her out. We walked and talked and giggled as we collected the snowflakes on our eyelashes and the tips of our tongues. Later, when we arrived home, it was dark. Our backyard grotto, covered in a blanket of newly fallen snow, was glowing. The snow was illuminated by the spotlights or maybe the spotlights were a little brighter because of the snow. Either way, the first snow was a joyous occasion of memory-making and adoration.
