Dear Beautiful Heart-Centered Souls,

I was scrolling through social media one day when I noticed someone shared a bouquet of bright yellow roses. I always appreciate pictures of flowers and nature. It makes the world a little more beautiful. When I saw the flowers, I instantly thought of my mother who loved yellow roses. It was a memory that touched my heart. I spent some time admiring these brilliant blooms, and then I went on with my day. I completely forgot about them.

Later on in the evening, my husband arrived home from a long day’s work. When he came in the door, he proudly handed me a bouquet of flowers. He brings flowers home on special occasions, and sometimes he makes up occasions just to give them. The card with this bouquet simply read, ‘just because’.  However, this was not just a bouquet of flowers. It was a dozen yellow roses! I was amazed. I never mentioned them to him. When I asked him how he knew, he said, “I just followed my heart.”

Somehow his heart was leading him to mine. It’s that ability we have as humans, to connect with another, heart-to-heart. We also have a wonderful gift of intuition. It lets us know things we may not be aware of if only we tune in and listen to the still small voice, the whisper of God. And then, we have to act upon the message.

I believe I was tuned in, too. Following the nudge that led me to see the roses in the first place and then spending some time there to just linger in enjoyment. Joy is our natural state, and we should spend time with the things that bring joy to our hearts. I do believe my joy was overflowing, and my husband got the message. Having my own bouquet gave me the opportunity to see them and think of my mother and my treasured memories of her many times over the next week.
