Personal Perseverance and Potential

Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; suddenly you are doing the impossible.

St. Francis of Assisi

Today, I continue to gaze out my window at this beautiful sign of personal expansion. It is a delicate process for our beautiful Magnolia tree. A bud begins to unfurl its petals amidst the unpredictable elements. Yes, there is sun and rain, wind and frost at this time of year, and we cannot know exactly how much of each to expect. There have been springs when I have watched these blooms begin and then a frost stunts the process. The buds are frozen and cannot continue to their full beauty. However, there is something beautiful in that. It is yet another reminder that we do sometimes stop before we reach our fullest potential. If we can weather the storms, do what is possible, suddenly we may surprise even ourselves that we’ve made it!
